Anti-Victim.Org offers on-site presentations and discussion forums in living rooms, work places, libraries, to civic clubs, women's groups, agencies, church groups, sororities, college campus groups, and other community groups of various sizes without a cost or fee.
Our My Security Sense presentations uniquely focus on the two most significant methods of self-protection: awareness and a preparedness to act. The goals of the presentation are to provide a foundation for turning off "auto-pilot" in everyday situations and to provide a foundation for being mentally and physically prepared to act to avoid being targeted by criminals and to reduce the potential of becoming a victim of violent crime.
All of our My Security Sense presentations are aimed at promoting positive self-worth and personal responsibility. We specifically DO NOT create an atmosphere of fear in order to promote the need for someone to protect themselves. Instead, our presentations, materials and staff validate the right for people (particularly women) to feel and explore how their feelings can form the foundation of their own personal sense of security.
Our complete on-site presentation including a group discussion forum is provided in about one (1) hour and includes the following segments:
My Security Sense - This segment underscores how trusting your feelings in different situations lies at the heart of your personal sense of security. By choosing to use your feelings to guide your thoughts and actions, you can take control of your own security and reduce the potential of becoming a victim of violent crime.
My Security Zones - How you feel and react to a potentially violent situation depends on where the assailant is within your personal space. This segment helps you identify your security zones, how those zones can change in different cirumstances, and reinforces the importance of remaining aware as the best way to avoid the assailant.
My Security Devices - From emergency whistles to tasers, there are a variety of different types of personal security devices on the market today that claim to offer you safety if you find yourself in a potentially violent encounter. This segment reviews the different types of security devices available, how any why they work, the security zones where they are effective, and their pros and cons. Demonstrations of some of the different product types available is included depending on audience and venue.
My Security Attitude - Being prepared to act, to avoid a potentially violent encounter, is an attitude of responsibility, personal worth and control. This segment brings together your security sense, zones and devices into possible situations and examines many of the common sense choices that may be available to avoid or escape. The exercises that follow are intended to help enhance your ability to develop second nature responses.
