Situations you might encounter can be quite different from someone else's based on the environments where you live, work and play.

Our staff has worked to put together an initial list of recommendations for a variety of living environments. These recommendations, and the list of living enviroments, can and will change over time due to the input of our members.

Each of these living environments are open to comment by our members. These are often the same living environments covered during our My Security Sense meetings.

We strongly encourage any member that wants additional information about any of the recommendations to post their request as a comment and our staff will do their best to provide you their answers as quickly as is possible.

     The pepper spray gun sprays like an aerosol in a continuous spray from any angle, even when it is held upside down. This pepper spray gun is good for your purse, car, and home.  It is intended to be used in an Orange Zone encounter, but it can also be potentially effective in a Yellow Zone encounter. It has an effective range of up to 25 feet. This model allows for better aim and is easy to hold in my hand.

     The pepper spray gun has an LED light so that you can aim it easier. It has a safety switch and comes with a water cartridge so you can test it. Learn how far it will reach. See what it feels like in your hand. It also comes with the batteries required for the LED light.

     I recommend practicing with this device from time to time. You will need to be comfortable with a "draw and fire" motion.

Leather Plus Key Chain Pepper Spray--An Honest Opinion

     Leather Plus Model Pepper Spray. In truth, this device looks handy and attractive. However, I'm not comfortable with it. I attached it to my key chain and practiced needing to use it. I had to open a snap on the lid of the leather case. And I had to make sure the spray was facing the right way. I don't think it would shift inside the case since it holds it snug, but the possibility of something going wrong--I don't even want to chance it.

     That being said, the pepper spray inside this model is 10% OC, the strongest concentration. The leather key case has an effective range of up to 10 feet. It will attach to your key chain and has a glow-in-the-dark safety cap.

     The leather plus model is intended as an Orange Zone security product. The effects last 20-30 minutes and will not cause any permanent damage to an assailant.
